This is the first biped walker that I built with the NXT. It’s bigger than Alpha Rex, and it walks a bit less elegant. Yet, it actually lifts its feet off the ground to walk. It walks by lifting up one foot, while turning the foot that is currently on the ground. When it does this, the foot doesn’t actually turn, but the whole robot turns instead. Repeating these actions, it can walk by lifting up one foot, turning, lifting up the other foot, turning, etc.
It lifts a foot by shifting the main weight of the robot (the NXT brick with batteries) towards the foot that is not lifted. This walker was designed in December 2007. Creative comments on Youtube suggested that this robot looked like a drunk robot, and I admit that’s kind of true. I’ll be sure to keep my robots away from the oil cabinet next time!
instructions please???
